Blue Man with a tool box Cake

Since we had already thrown a party for my hubby dear two days in advance I totally forgot that his birthday was on a weekday! Luckily I remembered to wish him before he left for work. Just to make it a special day I cooked his favourite dum aloo curry and puris for dinner as well as baked a cake and decorated it in less than two hours. I picked up the fondant model before it could completely dry which lead to the cracks on the arms but hubby still loved it.

My hubby loves his tools and his only wish for his birthday is an addition to his tool box. I've made a toolbox with just some basic tools beside him (painted in blue) as the cake topper on this moist butter cake iced with vanilla buttercream.

Pac-Man Birthday Cake

My Dear Husband loves his computer games and Pac-Man is his all time favourite. So for his birthday this year I gave a Pac-Man themed party. I baked his favourite orange and poppy seed cake and covered it with Fondant. It was more of a guys party and the boys really had fun, the cake was a big hit with the boys and to top it all it was Black!

Just to decorate the table I added these two gift boxes with pacman shapes. I used pearl candy to make the dots on the cake.

Here is how the decorations looked at night when the party began. Yellow and Black were the more dominant colors in the decorations.

Origami for Wall Art

Origami fascinates me a lot, a small piece of paper be transformed into something so beautiful! I am in the process of transforming my babies' nursery into a play room for her as she is getting closer to becoming a toddler. I made these origami wall arts for her room. For the origami paper I took some printouts of some IKEA fabric prints which I scanned from the old fabric cuts I had.

I really love the fabric print which I have used as a backdrop for a bunny rabbit in the picture below.

I am mixing these framed arts with some IKEA art cards in colored frames. My artwork will be on my daughter's wall till she is old enough to make some of her own creations.

"It's A Boy" Baby Shower

Parties are so exciting and more so when it is a Baby shower!
I love planning parties themes, crafts and food. There is so much that can be done. As I put in a lot of effort for every party I plan,I thought it would be a good idea to share it through a blog. Here is what I did for my friend's baby shower. She wanted it all blue with few accents of color.

Being lover of craft I just had to make the decorations myself. Tissue paper pom poms, paper buntings and diamond shaped craft paper tied together with a string hung from the ceiling.I made the "It's a Boy" banner with paper cut in the shape of a tie.

And here are the cake and cupcakes which I made myself. All the toppers are made out of fondant covering a moist rich chocolate cake.I did a really thick crumb coating which is showing out of the fondant. However, the cake did taste great with all the frosting!

Paw Paw carved out in the shape of the stroller with grapefruit and lemon wheels pinned with grapes on a toothpick .I filled it with grapefruit segments, cucumber and carrot ribbons around the stroller.

It was a fun day and my friend enjoyed her baby shower as much as I did, maybe I enjoyed more!
