Another one of E's favourite activities, the sensory box! I have been making different sensory boxes for her since E was a year old and she just loves them.It is like a big treasure bag where she can see all her treasure at the same time explore it. Click here for some from my earlier post. E bought heaps of animal toys from her visits to the zoo recently and one of them was a tube full of animals from the snow. So I made this sensory box for her with penguin and friends in lots of snow.
I used some snowy landscape print outs and added them to the walls of the box. To make the snow combine plain flour with olive oil and smooth out all the lumps. Roughly I combined 3 cups of flour with 1/2 cup of olive oil and then mixed them well to form a very soft mix. The igloo is made from sugar cubes.
I didn't have any blue pebbles for the water so I used some blue fabric strips, blue pebbles would be better as the fabric got really dirty with the flour.
Polar Bear is E's favourite she calls it "Po bear" so despite being from the other ends of tehw orld I had to put polar bear together with the penguins!
Once E started exploring the snow nothing looked the way I had arranged it initially but she does play with it and uses the sugar cubes as blocks to build her own igloo.
